Brad Burkhart is a talented singer/songwriter from Defiance, Ohio who has traveled throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana for the past four decades entertaining audiences of all ages. An accomplished and award winning songwriter, Brad writes songs from folk, country, pop, rock, and blues genres, drawing on inspiration from people, places, and events in his life. At his live performances, you are sure to hear short but interesting stories about each song.
His first cd as a solo artist is called “Seasons of Life” and it includes a handful of what have become crowd favorites at his live shows. Among them is the humorous “In Spite of It All” about a very optimistic man who always sees the sunny side of things; and the sensitive “A Better Man” that gives credit where credit is due. A song Brad wrote to pay homage to one of his musical mentors is called “Goodbye My Friend”. And the most requested “My Little Town” that he wrote about his three and a half month residency in the small town of Jewell, Ohio.
Brad’s second cd called “Stories, Tales, & Legends, Volume I” has just been released and contains a cohesive collection of tunes that allowed him to explore the topical landscape of his songwriting.The song “The Legend of Buck Cemetery” has an accompanying video that has garnered several thousand views on YouTube and expounds on the local legend regarding a secluded, old cemetery near one of his childhood homes. Another tune with local influence is “Roll On, Mighty River” that takes a look at the confluence of the Maumee and Auglaize Rivers in Defiance. It tells about the diverse native cultures that thrived there for centuries and the conflict that occurred after Europeans settled in the area. There is also “It’s Time To Decide”, a humorous song about social media and the posts by those who express their opinions on topics of which they know little or nothing about. The opening song of this cd is about the determination, challenges, and experiences Brad and his brother went through as young musicians. It’s called “Music’s In Me”.
In addition to his original music, Brad also plays hundreds of recognizable hits from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, by artists such as Bob Seger, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Diamond, The Eagles, and many more.
